Carmen Cornue is a writer living in San Francisco. Her writing has appeared in Southword, The Atlanta Review, Apricity Press, Dutch Kills Press, Mad Gleam Press and on the podcast, “Beyond the Screams”. For her work, she was selected to participate in the City of San Francisco’s Guaranteed Income for Artists program, powered by YBCA. She currently holds positions as a poetry reader with the Los Angeles Review and as a judge with NYC Midnight.
She co-founded the literary collective Spleen with Donna Morton in 2015. Spleen endeavors to create and champion radical documents of desire written by queer women. Spleen’s first collection of poems, Forbidden Flowers, was selected as a finalist for the Fool for Poetry Contest held by the Munster Literature Centre in 2021 and by Host Publications’ for their 2022 Chapbook Prize. Forbidden Flowers was published by Voice Lux Press in October 2023 (order here). Following its publication, Carmen and Donna went on a national tour and the collection is currently being translated into multiple languages.
