
Carmen Cornue’s work is deeply indebted to French poetry, international arthouse films and classic American cinema. Her writing has appeared in Southword, Hobart, The Atlanta Review, Apricity Press, on the podcast, “Beyond the Screams”, and many more venues. She currently holds positions as a poetry reader with the Los Angeles Review and as a judge with NYC Midnight and Writing Battle.
She co-founded the literary collective Spleen with Donna Morton in 2015. Spleen endeavors to create and champion radical documents of desire written by queer women. Spleen’s first collection of poems, Forbidden Flowers, was selected as a finalist for the Fool for Poetry Contest held by the Munster Literature Centre in 2021 and by Host Publications’ for their 2022 Chapbook Prize. Forbidden Flowers was published by Voice Lux Press in October 2023. Following its publication, Carmen and Donna went on a national tour and the collection is currently being translated into French and Finnish.
Born in California, Carmen has lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Paris, but she currently calls Vienna home.
